Maria Logaridi-Gavrilaki

Hello hello, I'm Maria and I'm a midwife!! I've been a midwife for 23 years, UK based for 20 years.I was born, grew up, studied and worked in the field for 3 years in Athens, Greece. One day I decided that I had enough (poked by a good friend) and I came to the UK with her to get work experience abroad and do my masters degree. As life is life, I sadly didn't manage to finish my masters, but I did fall in love with the country and being a midwife here. Hence, here I am!I have worked in several hospitals around South England over the years, both as permanent and agency staff. As a permanent staff member, I have worked mainly in London (Whipp's Cross Hospital - Northeast London, King's College Hospital - Southeast London) and West Sussex (Princess Royal Hospital), where I still work.

I have rotated to all hospital based departments over the years; I have been a Birth Centre based midwife, Labour Ward band 6 and Coordinator, Postnatal ward core midwife, Day Assessment Unit and Antenatal clinic midwife. My experience covers almost all parts of the midwifery field, both low and high risk. I consider myself "your everyday midwife", here to answer pregnant people questions, hold their hand and walk with them through their journey to childbirth. What's my passion, you may ask? Food! Literally and metaphorically! I love cooking and eating but mainly feeding! Feed both the body and the soul! When you are fed, you feel relaxed, happy and comfortable. So, that's my motto as a midwife!
