Iva The Screening Specialist Midwife
for Trisomy Screening and
Infectious Diseases.
Iva has also worked as a pharmacy dispenser.
and has studied Greek Literature
Hi I am Iva I am a qualified Midwife since 2021. I studied in Athens, Greece and did my last semester at Croydon university Hospital via Erasmus exchange student programme before Brexit hit.
I have mostly worked in UK hospitals, including Watford General Hospital and Croydon University Hospital. Currently I am at Sandwell and West Birmingham hospital as a specialist screening midwife. My job includes offering screening tests early in pregnancy for Genetic Syndromes as designed by Fasp programme by NHS England and making sure patients have their screening done and have valid results. Another aspect of my role is offering to women with infectious diseases customised care in pregnancy and making individual birth plans and postnatal and neonatal plans to provide optimal care for them and their babies.
Being a midwife made me a better person through the years as I have the privilege to look after “2 souls” and I have practiced my counselling skills and the art to be delicate in sharing uncomfortable news. The message I want the pregnant women to remember is that they are not alone, they have their midwife by their side.
Few facts about me are: I love dogs although I do not have one.. I show my love with actions, not very good with words (sorry!).
